19 of Daniil Medvedev's 21 championships have been achieved on hardcourt
A resurgent Daniil Medvedev won his maiden championship for 882 days with victory over Frenchman Moutet in the Almaty Open title decider.
Medvedev, a ex- top-ranked player, has experienced a difficult season, winning just one match at the Grand Slams and experiencing a difficult moment at the US Open.
His varied form on the tennis tour - and struggles with his serve in particular - caused him dropping out of the top ten and finally separating with long-time coach Cervara.
Currently working with his coach and his other coach, the tennis star has gradually advanced in the last few weeks - peaking in a tightly fought competitive triumph over opponent Moutet.
This marks Medvedev's first trophy following the Italian tournament and initial on a hard surface since spring of the previous year.
Victory also indicates the Russian has secured 21 titles at 21 different events.
"This marks the first occasion I am participating in a event with my both daughters simultaneously, so to get a title is really nice," commented world number 14 Medvedev.
"This championship is in honour of my second daughter her name, because the first title I achieved when my child Alisa was delivered was for her."
Medvedev, the 2021 US Open champion, had been defeated in his past six championship matches, comprising in that event previously this season.
Medvedev's defensive approach and regular outbursts on the tennis court had caused observers to wonder if his ability to perform at the top level was over.
But the 29-year-old has implemented adjustments in the last few weeks, striving to advance forward and perform assertively, reinforced by an improved serving game.
Medvedev fought back from a disadvantage in the initial set against the difficult Moutet, securing four of the last five games to take the lead.
The competitors exchanged service breaks in the middle set before Moutet, striving for his maiden tour championship, gained dominance to create a final set.
The opponent rescued four early chances in a close final set before the Russian broke to fifteen to serve for the match.
Appropriately, the winner secured the win with a point at the net area, with the Frenchman failing to control a shot after two hours and 38 minutes.
