Around 25,000 homes in Queensland's southeast found themselves lacking electricity on Monday morning after intense storm systems passed over the region, generating strong winds reaching 109km/h.

Locals reported substantial frozen pellets measuring up to 7cm in particular locations. The Bureau of Meteorology confirmed that multiple regions across Queensland had been hit with large hailstones.

Utility workers were working to restore electricity service throughout the impacted areas, with nearly 70 crews activated to handle the extensive power failures.

Victoria's Weather Woes

At the same time, around 1,000 households in Victoria also faced energy failures after Melbourne saw its wettest day in over 500 days.

State Emergency Services handled nearly 600 calls for help across the region, primarily for structural issues but also for collapsed vegetation and flooding.

At the height on Sunday, more than 28k energy customers in Victoria were without power.

Climate Outlook

Humid circumstances were forecast to persist along much of eastern Queensland this coming days as a low-pressure trough continued to attract humidity against the shoreline.

Tomorrow was predicted as the most rainy day, with persistent storm activity anticipated across multiple regions of both states.

Safety Concern

Medical authorities cautioned that there was an higher risk of thunderstorm-induced asthma across the northern rural areas, especially given the existing atmospheric conditions.
